Under Active Thyroid Gland

Question:-Please help. I menopausal and also 2 years ago was told I have hypo-thryroidism. I have been putting on weight gradually over the last 4 years and although I go to the gym, walk dogs every day my weight has not shifted. Do you have any suggestions. I am very concerned about diabetes and heart problems if I cannot slim down.

Reply:- The Thyroid gland plays an important part in hormonal balance as well as the metabolic rate, so at the time of hormonal change it is even more difficult to watch your weight

Your diet needs to be well balanced, having smaller meals at more regular intervals to control your blood glucose levels.

Cut down on fats especially saturated ones,  less butter, cheese, processed foods

Ask for a change in your Gym pro gramme, start a new exercise aiming to increase your metabolic rate.
