Question-: I am 48 and was late starting this period. (usually i have a regular 26-28 day cycle with heavy flow) This period have been really odd mostly more like spotting but with the odd slightly heavier day - my worry is that it has continued for 5 weeks - some bleeding every day - Is this the start of the menopause or should i get checked out by the Dr

Reply-: This may be the start of the Menopause, periods will change in length and flow, but should not be more that 5-7 days.

It would be advisable to be checked by your GP for no other underlying cause

Ask for hormone levels to be checked
