This is a common problem during and after the menopause, so you are not alone.

Your Dr is correct, use a vaginal moisturising gel, known as Aqueous gel lubricant, but every day, just a small amount, into, and as high as you can, so the vaginal walls are slightly lubricated, you are not thinking you have to do it just for intercourse, this relieves the pressure and tension you experience, yes the more you have sex the better, the glands that produce moisture become more active, the more intercouse you have. Im sure your partner is all to aware and could help to apply more lubrication for you

Do not wash with soap, just use warm water and wear cotton briefs
