Mood swings.
Question:- I am 35, have suffered from EpilepsyI have had an FHS test (not at the required time of the month) and a thyroid test and my GP says this is not the perimenopause, but he doesn’t know what it is. The mood swings are getting worse. I have started treating myself with herbal remedies, This is starting to help.
Can you advise anything at all for the mood swings – as I am in tune with my body, and personally, my periods have dramatically changed, my weight and moods have changed,
Reply:- Be careful in mixing medications as some herbal supplements and remedies are are contraindicated with some conventional and prescription drugs
Exercise is excellent – look at your diet, include Soya, Iso-flavines act as substitute for declining levels of oestrogen may help levitate menopausal symptoms, (if you think this is the start, although your younger than the average age for the menopause.)
Soya milk, linseeds chick peas lentils and mung beans are all good sources along with foods low in Glycaemic index keeping blood sugars steady, aiding body balance
Regular intake of Vitamins and minerals are recommended
With more than 1 GP in surgeries today, make an appointment to see another GP to exclude any other underlying cause.
