Question:-I am 36 years old and just been told that I am going through the menopause, I have all the symptoms so it should have been obvious to me but I feel too young to be going through this. I am so tired all the time and don’t sleep at all at night. The hot flushes are awful and I am moody all the time. If my GP prescribes HRT to me I wondered how safe this is and what can I expect for the next few years.

Reply:-You do not say if you have had children ?  is this the start of  Premature menopause, or are further investigations required for any other underlying conditions ? Ask for a 2 nd opinion if unhappy to start HRT

Check out thyroid and hormone level function, (simple blood test)  as this gland is part of the main endocrine system that regulates hormones and metabolic balance.

Premature menopause also means  that childbearing years are shortened
