Question -:I am nearly 45 and i have always had regular periods every 25 to 28 days normally quite light and only lasting at the longest 4 days, 16 days after my last period i noticed a slight discharge which i presumed to be another period but it is very light that i do not need to use a towel and it is light brown in colour like that what happens at the end of a period. I had a smear test in May o7 which was normal i am having to have regular smears as i had a cin 3 two yrs ago and had a cone biopsy. I have also been experiecing night sweats and mood swings and i either sleep very heavy or have insomnia and i have also noticed my memory has got quite bad and i can not concentrate on things like i used to be able to. Could this be the start of the menopause and is it usual to get that type of discharge, obviously i will see my GP but as yet have not been able to get an appointment

Reply -:  It may well be the Start of the menopause but it would be advisable to see you GP re discharge mid cycle, this is not normal  & needs investigation
